Paperback. A poor but kind-hearted old man named Yohei frees a wounded crane from a trap one snowy evening. That same night, a mysterious young woman appears at his door seeking shelter. She stays with Yohei and his wife Tose, becoming like a daughter to them. When she offers to weave magical cloth to help the family through the winter, she asks only one thing - that they never open the door while she works. But kindness, curiosity, and love are hard to separate. And some secrets, once seen, cannot be unseen. The Crane's Gift is the third book in the Kogetsu Japanese Tales series - a bilingual English and Japanese retelling of the beloved Japanese folk tale "Tsuru no Ongaeshi," beautifully illustrated in a soft contemporary watercolor style. For readers ages 7-12. This item is printed on demand. Shipping may be from our UK warehouse or from our Australian or US warehouses, depending on stock availability.
