This fact-packed nonfiction guide pulls back the curtain on two of the most powerful machines on the planet, explaining exactly how they work in clear, simple language any young reader can follow.
- What cranes and excavators are and why construction sites need them
- How cranes lift massive loads using cables, pulleys, and counterweights
- How diggers use hydraulic power to push, pull, and scoop
- The different types of construction machines and what each one does
- What a real building site looks like and how workers stay safe
- Who invented these incredible machines and how they evolved
- What tomorrow's construction machines might look like
Inside every chapter, young readers will find:
- Age-appropriate explanations of real engineering and STEM concepts
- Labeled machine parts and how-it-works breakdowns
- Fun facts about hydraulics, load limits, and mechanical power
- A look at careers, safety rules, and the future of construction technology
This guide is ideal for curious children ages 4–9, beginning readers ready to explore nonfiction, and any child fascinated by construction vehicles, big machines, or how everyday technology works. It pairs naturally with early STEM learning at home or in the classroom.
Parents and educators love this title as a hands-on complement to science units on simple machines, forces, and engineering design.
If your child can't stop watching cranes swing or excavators dig at a construction site, this is the guide that finally explains why — and how.
