Are you not weary of being a slave when you were born to be a Sovereign?
Gabalis has asked that question for over three centuries and it still works its quiet alchemy today.
First published anonymously in Paris in 1670, The Count of Gabalis (French: Comte de Gabalis) became a rare kind of esoteric classic: written as satire, but adopted as doctrine by occultists, poets, and initiates across Europe. Structured as five dialogues between a bold Master and an inquiring student, the Count leads his disciple through the invisible architecture of the Rosicrucian sciences and the elemental kingdoms of Nature: Earth, Water, Air, and Fire.
This Temple & Vault Classic Edition restores the text for modern readers without rewriting its voice. It includes a new foreword with historical context, running commentary that separates clearly from the narrative stream, and a complete redesign for readability, so readers can finally think alongside the Disciple, question alongside the Disciple, and recognise themselves in the process.
This edition includes:
- Insightful Commentary: A parallel analysis of the text’s occult and metaphysical meanings.
- Enhanced Readability: Completely re-typeset with modernised punctuation and clear distinction between voice and commentary.
- Historical Context: A new foreword exploring the dramatic life of the author and the novel’s significance to esoteric literature and the Rosicrucian tradition.
The Count of Gabalis is a mirror held up to the seeker within. A pilgrimage into Self. A conversation across centuries. Welcome to another timeless Rosicrucian classic revived for the reader who dares to ask the same questions anew.
Perfect for readers of:
- Classic esoteric fiction
- Rosicrucian philosophy and symbolism
- Occult dialogue and spiritual self-inquiry
- Elemental cosmology and Hermetic traditions
- Annotated initiatic classics
