In a half calf binding over marbled boards and endpapers. Externally sound with some shelf wear and rubbing to the leather as well as some scuffing. With a slight tear to the joints of the occasional volume, particularly to Volume II, III, and VI, which has suffered a slight loss to the head of the spine. Internally, the hinges to volume VI are slightly loose, otherwise the binding is firm throughout to each volume. The pages are bright and clean with only the odd minor spotting to the occasional gutter and the occasional faint handling mark to the leaves. Some leaves to each volume are left unopened. Illustrated with five hundred stunning plates: five hundred in colour, gold and silver, and two hundred in camaïeu.
