Lozouet, P.: Les Conoidea de l'Oligoc�ne sup�rieur (Chattien) du bassin de l'Adour (Sud-Ouest de la France). 171 species of Conoidea are recorded from the Upper Oligocene of Aquitaine basin (Adour Basin), accounting for nearly 14 % of all the gastropods that can be found there. Approximately fifty species were previously known from the same deposits. Out of these 171 species, 63 are accepted as new. 22 species could not be named and 16 species are identified as "cf.". These species are, for most of them, insufficiently preserved in order to be unequivocally identified. It should also be noted that the Conidae, which are generally poorly preserved, are insufficiently studied. Five new species from the Early Miocene (Aquitanian and Burdigalian) are also described. The Raphitomidae are the best represented with 32 species, followed by Borsoniidae (26 species), Horaiclavidae (21 species), Drilliidae (16 species), Mangeliidae (13 species), Conidae (12 species), Turridae (11 species), Pseudomelatomidae (10 species), Clathurellidae (8 species), Terebridae (8 species), Clavatulidae (6 species), Mitromorphidae (5 species), Conorbidae (1 species), Cochlespiridae (1 species), Turridae? (1 species). 24 species (14 %) are directly related to known species of the Lower Miocene of Aquitaine and only 4 species (2.5 %) are also known from the Lower Oligocene of Aquitaine. Consequently, Conoidea proved to be the richest clade in species and confirms the great originality of the Upper Oligocene mollusc faunas of the Aquitaine basin. Effects of withdrawal
