Corrections of Fathers' Sins, is a 68,000 word narrative fiction of repetitious torments from a Vietnam veteran to his family, and the elder sons' plight to not fall in those hereditary foot-steps. What can be gathered from this is that the thought process: the plotting, conniving efforts, the underhandedness of the acts for personal gain, the selfishness of what is being done or attempting to do, all stemmed from what can be observed at home with Father Figure and how he lies, cheats and steals to have everything his way until family, the judicial system and even death catches on to his game. Good Fathers are made, not born. If you have the desire and willpower, you can become an effective Father to your son. Good Fathers develop through a never ending process of self-study, education, training, and experience. But, there can also be a negative impact congruent to having a negative influence. These passages are of a child that is transitioning into adulthood and reflects back to the choices made by his Father Figure and the paths taken to self-fulfillment. This story will help you through that same path of what NOT to do.

Family History
Alexander Hawthorne was born in 1922 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He went on to graduate from high school and enter the United States Army at the age of 18 to start his new life. He served in the Armed Forces and was active in several global conflicts, such as World War II and Korean War, to name a few. During his tenure in the Army, he met Tabitha Johnson of Killeen, Texas, and after a short courtship, they married in 1942. Tabitha was born in 1919 into a very poverty stricken area of Killeen, TX. She was uneducated and did not finish high school. Alexander later exited the military and he and Tabitha moved to Dallas, TX to look for work and grow their family. As time passed, Alexander gained a history of alcoholism and domestic violence, then later became incarcerated for such. After further testing, he was diagnosed with high blood pressure until his death in 2002 from a stroke. Tabitha Hawthorne was obese and also drank very heavily. She suffered with ailments such as high blood pressure, thrombosis, tendonitis, and later diabetes. She died in 1976 from congestive heart failure. During their marriage, they managed to birth eleven (11) children.
Alexander Hawthorne Jr. was the first born in 1944. During his adolescence, he and his father became close. He graduated from high school and joined the military at the age of 18. He participated in the Vietnam Conflict, gaining two consecutive tours. After his discharge from the military he moved back to Dallas, TX to marry Mary Henderson of Waskom, TX. He later gathered a history of alcohol abuse and domestic violence, which led to his reception of a sentencing for alcohol related problems that sent him to prison for several years. Before Jr.'s incarceration, he and Mary managed to give birth to three children: Nikki, Edward, and Shawn. Nikki and Edward went forth to graduate high school and join the military, participating in such military conflicts as Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Shawn graduated from high school, but later became incarcerated for acts against society. Alexander and Mary divorced in 1988, and he later died from Diabetes in 2002. In addition, he had a history of high blood pressure that preceded his demise.
Dan Hawthorne was the second child. Born in 1946, he went on to graduate from high school and join the military as well. He avoided several military campaigns due to unacceptable activities. He was later dishonorably discharged and sent back to his home of record. Dan married Dot and they gave birth to a baby girl, Samantha, who later became obese and gained other medical problems to include: chronic back pain, tendonitis, and high blood pressure. Sam also became an alcoholic and a smoker and was later diagnosed with high blood pressure. He was incarcerated several times for domestic violence and crimes against others.
Tonya Hawthorne was the eldest female sibling. Born in 1947, she became an alcoholic at an early age. In and out of prison for theft, violence, and alcohol related incidents, she never finished high school, and was therefore limited to certain occupations. She managed to birth four (4) children: Tooty, Connor Jr. (Smokey), Angel, and Tonya. All the children graduated high school with no ailments or problems with the law except for Tonya, the youngest. Tonya used drugs and alcohol, and was later incarcerated for violence against another. Angel went on to become a high school basketball star and later became a professional player. During her career, she decided to fall into her curiosities and become a lesbian. With this being frowned upon, she later moved away only to be found years later as a nun in a convent hiding from her deepest wants and desires. She was later found on the streets, high on prescription narcotics and finally placed in a mental institution to receive behavioral counseling, psychotherapy, and pharmacotherapy treatments.
Tommy Hawthorne was born in 1948. He, also, graduated high school and went to the Army. He was discharged early while still in basic training due to failure to adapt. Tommy acquired a history of violence, alcoholism, and drug use. He was diagnosed with high blood pressure which causes him continuous headaches. He never wed.
May Hawthorne was born in 1950. May was an obese person that drank heavily in her early years, but has since found religion. She has high blood pressure, but has controlled its elevation since giving up alcohol recently. She is married to Connor and has one daughter Mae, who is also obese.
Paul Hawthorne was born in 1952, and as an adult went to the Army long after graduating being unsure of himself and his future. Paul went ahead to do four (4) years in the military, completing up his obligation. He came to Dallas, TX, unavoidably, getting caught up in the club life which included drugs, alcohol, and violence. He went to prison several times in extended spurts. He was married to Felicia, and had a son, Paul Jr., who became a marijuana smoker and a drinker, parallel with being close with his father.
Larry Hawthorne was born in 1953. During high school, he associated himself with the band. He mastered several instruments and gained a scholarship to college. He later failed out of college and moved back to Dallas. Not being close to his father and his older brother, Larry became an alcoholic. He married Crystal in 1976 and had one son, Kenneth, who became a homosexual early in life. Specifically, the close mother-son and distant father-son relationship could have produced femininity in the boy. It can be argued that a father's physical absence deprived the son of a male role model with whom to identify feelings of hate or love. It can also be argued that a paternal psychological impairment, which often led to regression, made identification with his father difficult for the boy. The father later admitted to spending less time with his feminine male offspring. This implies circular reasoning for femininity in this male offspring, in that the father spent less time with the male offspring made the son feminine, but because he was feminine, less time was spent with him. Larry and his son where never close. Larry and his wife later divorced due to drug use and domestic violence.
Damon Hawthorne, born in 1960, graduated from a technical high school in Dallas, TX and became a mechanic. He was neither close to his father nor the oldest son due to the fact that the eldest was working, So he attached himself to his shop instructor and gained himself a mentor (parenting figure). He drinks occasionally, but works hard to maintain.
Janice Hawthorne, born in 1962, graduated and became a professional hair stylist. She came under the wing of the beauty school owner, whose influence speared her to start her own salon. No history of alcoholism or drug use.
Daren Hawthorne was born in 1963. After graduating from high school, he joined the Army and participated in Operation Desert Storm. He was later discharged from the military for exceeding the weight requirements, and later was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. No history of alcoholism or domestic violence was presented in his life. More so, there are reports of no close connection to parents.
Lauren Hawthorne, born in 1965, graduated with honors from high school but only went to the local technical college for paralegals. She works for a large law firm and has become very successful with her knowledge of the law. She also became a very spiritual and an active figure in the church. No history of alcohol or drug use.
In an overall analysis of this tribal family, one would ascertain that members of the clan who are more involved in the family, have close ties, and whose parents have the greatest impact, have caused a pattern of sameness and continuance. Of equal importance, those who were much less involved, in which contact has been cut off; have broken the patterns of drugs, alcohol, violence and military patriotism; but have had known attachments to other parenting figures, for examples, school teachers or guidance counselors, who have given them alternative directions on lifestyles and ways of being.
Authors thoughts:
In this paternal family, for what is known about their patterns of influence, it has been briefed that there is obesity which has lead to such ailments as hypertension and chronic back pain. There has been a considerable amount of military influence, and strong religious practices and beliefs, which seem to control the ways of life for this family. But drugs, alcohol, and continuous violence, seem to dominantly plague the very essence in which this immediate family could thrive and become a household to be reckoned. This plague is inherited, and the Sins are passed from father to son. Without continuous positive reinforcements, the plague's signs and symptoms will not be corrected.
Chapter Two
A Father Teaches His Son (How not to treat his son)
As far back as any child can remember, being in diapers, I remember not liking a figure of a man, called Father Figure. He did not treat me, as far as any likeable, nature vs. nurture, infantile maternal instincts should carry a caregiver. The ideals of my Father Figure was obscured by drinking, drugs, constant profanity, a slew of random women, loss of money from fad cars, car parts, multiple vacations to jail, and frequents trips to the magistrates office to pay fines from public obscenity (pissing on a public street) to destruction of private property (stemming from another alcohol induced rage, damaging someone else's shit), again, these irresponsible acts, costing the family new clothes, shoes, abstaining from dinner meals without meat or juice, or once again, eating Spam sandwiches or grits with gravy for breakfast, lunch and dinner, if necessary.
My name is Edward Adam Hawthorne, the eldest son of Alexander Hawthorne Jr. As far back as I can remember, I have been given an example of how my father or any man, acting in a way of total self destruction, could cause an innocent child, in his days of learning his colors and ABC's, to learn and embrace the feelings of hatred toward the ones whom are responsible for giving him the ultimate gift of life.
I remember being on the floor of our air conditioned deficiency house in Dallas, TX. It may have been around the summer of 1973. I was on the floor of the living room sitting next to an old tan and brown rocking horse that lost its rock capabilities due to its stretched out springs from its frequent rides of a certain drunken adult male rider that lived there. Not wearing any shirt, shoes or socks, just a pooped filled diaper that I had started to pull at because the poop had started to irritate my skin and started me to itch profusely. I had pulled open the diaper and some of the bowel matter began to leak out, or better yet, ooze out of the diaper and onto the floor. Back then, there were no plastic disposable diapers, that we could afford anyway, all cloth and very easy to pull at. Well, being only several months old, textures and the ways things smelled would fascinate the simplest of curious minds ... so I played in it. All of a sudden, I was pulled up by one arm and beaten about the back and legs by that tall mustached Father Figure. My mother tried to pull me away from him but he moved around in circles to avoid her reach and swinging his open hand until he satisfied his thirst for violence. Later, I realized that this was only the beginning of many beatings and on many notes, the better of the beatings as they later got worse as time increased or as I got older and became more of a threat to my Father Figure and his discouraging adult male ego.
I remember being about six (6) years old and after that time, being neglected was common and expected. Matter of fact, by then, if I was being ignored, it was a good thing because it meant that there would not be any ridicule, pestering or any beatings for any known or unknown reason. But this one day, in particular, Father Figure walked, askewed, into the house, half sober as usual, and began to speak flirtatiously with my mother, in a gentle than usual tone. It made the air of the house eerie and strange, something was up, but I could not quite figure it out. Then he came to my room and told me that I appear to want to go to the park and play some baseball and catch. This was unheard of, he paid me little to no attention unless the motive was leading into something that would cause me to get corporal punishment and increase his enjoyment of my misery. I agreed that I would like to play baseball. Fathers on television like "Sanford and Son" or sitcoms like "My Three Sons" always had fathers that interacted with their male children, so I figured I was owed this one. I got dressed and headed out the door, passing my mother who had the biggest grin on her face like all her dreams had come true, holding her hands together, and clutching them in her chest. I saw her eyes watering and being wide and fixed on me as I got into the old 66 Ford F100 truck in which at many times got double to triple the attention from my semi-mechanically inclined Father Figure as I ever had, and is treated as better. As we drove, there was little chit chat. Mainly because of the long drags of his Kool Filtered Kings Cigarettes and the sips of Crown Royal kept him occupied as we drove down the freeways listening to, "Bad Mamma Jamma," on the radio. Being young, I gathered that I was not too smart, as I was told this many times, but the one thing I did know is that we passed the park several miles ago and we didn't circle around to go back. I finally built up enough courage to say something about the park, but as soon as I could get the words out, I was corrected with a punch to the chest and was told not to question an adult and we have to make a "stop" unknown to my childish and simple knowledge. We pulled up to a quant residence on the other side of town, and before we even got to the porch, the door was opened and we were greeted in by a scantily clad looking white woman, half dressed and smelling of the exact same alcohol as Father Figure. She immediately began to ask me if I was hungry, did I want to watch some TV, what toys did I like, or am I tired? I was told by Father Figure that I was tired and needed to lie down. I said, in my small quivering voice, "I ain't tired." He smiled, but his glossy red eyes were not happy. He pulled me into the kitchen by my arm, hit me in my stomach and said "Now do you need to lie down?" I agreed, coughing and nodding, "Yes." He walked me into the living room of the suburban house and she showed me the couch, giving me a blanket at five (5) in the evening. Bored and alone, I began to fall asleep, but was later awaken by sex noises: grunting ... panting ... the bed creaking and getting louder and louder, then going faster and faster and the pants of breathing, turned to screams of passion, then sooner than later, howls of ecstasy and release. This caused me to just sit up and cry. I finally fell asleep, heartbroken of what I had just witnessed. The Lady had fixed Father Figure a left over meal she had prepared previously and after he ate, she offered him a toothpick. He hugging her goodbye and as we walked back to the old 66 Ford F100 truck, he sucked on that toothpick and made the noises that disgusted me of the whole scene. My Father Figure and son Sunday baseball extravaganza was just ruined by a blue eyed, silky skirt wearing, pale skinned, gin drinking BITCH ... and I never will forgive her for it.
