ENGLISH DESCRIPTION
The magnificent posthumous novel of an icon of modern Spanish literature.
In 1952, at the height of the Franco regime, the body of an American spy is discovered at a barracks in Madrid alongside a dead horse and dog. Criminal investigator Ricardo Valor is assigned to the case and discovers a plot involving the illicit penicillin trade implicating high-ranking military and political figures.
With official corruption as its backdrop, Wolf Hearts captures the tensions of an impoverished country struggling to recover from civil war. Revealing the stark contrasts between a struggling population and the wealthy few who used their postwar power to enrich themselves at a nation's expense, master storyteller Javier Reverte crafts a tale of intrigue that keeps readers hooked until the last page.
