Paperback. The boat creaked and moaned as the storm's waves smashed into the ship. Down in the hold, Andre sat between crates that held the great copper lady, the Statue of Liberty. They were on their way to America, but would the storm that raged prevent them from getting there? Given to the people of the United States in 1885 by the people of France as a symbol of friendship between the two countries, the Statue of Liberty has come to symbolize freedom, liberty, and hope to all that see her. In this thrilling tale, learn what might have happened during the statue's stormy trip to America. Introduce young readers to history through the stories of both real and fictionalized people. By focusing on a single important episode that describes a historical event, these books engage readers' interests and imaginations. Written in a story format, each account relates events that really happened, often followed by a brief summary of the historical event to further explain the significance it had on history. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.…

From the Author
"Copper Lady," along with revealing many true facts about how the Statue of Liberty was built and transported, touches on themes that are vital in our multi-cultural society. I tried to incorporate the ideas of liberty and freedom, and to show emotionally by story-telling how wonderful and precious they are. I hope children will be enthralled by the action and adventure, and yet take home a warm feeling and a new understanding about some of the basic principles upon which this country was built. I hope you will enjoy!
