Print on Demand. This book brings forth a pioneering concept—the Context Interchange Network (CIN). It revolutionizes the way disparate data sources can seamlessly interconnect, resolving mismatches in context and transforming queries into a common, familiar context for enhanced decision making. The CIN eliminates the need for painstaking conversion routines, as was traditionally done, by introducing explicit representation of source and receiver knowledge. This approach paves the way for scalable and evolutionary integration of data sources, even as context knowledge changes. The book delves into the CIN's architecture, exploring its components and functionality in detail. It demonstrates how the CIN can be leveraged as a powerful tool for resolving semantic conflicts and enabling context management, opening up new possibilities for information exchange. The significance of the book lies in its articulation of a comprehensive framework for context interchange. It empowers organizations to harness the full potential of their data by breaking down barriers between disparate sources and fostering a shared understanding of information. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

The cin approach, as depicted in Figure 2, allows for the explicit representation of source and receiver context knowledge and uses this information along with context mediation services to automatically determine the semantic conflicts between sources and receivers and to apply the appropriate conversions. As will be discussed later this approach is scalable and evolutionary with changes in context knowledge.
