Hans Christian Andersen, (2 avril 1805 a Odense, Danemark - 4 aout 1875 a Rolighed, Frederiksberg, Copenhague) est un romancier, dramaturge, conteur et poete danois, celebre pour ses nouvelles et ses contes de fees . Longtemps ignore ou tourne en derision dans son pays, ou l'on a raille son egocentrisme, il n'est reconnu tout d'abord qu'a l'etranger: en Angleterre ou il rencontre Charles Dickens et ou il devient le lion de la saison[1], en Allemagne ou il se lie avec Chamisso[1], en France ou il se lie avec Heinrich Heine, Honore de Balzac et Alphonse de Lamartine chez Virginie Ancelot. Ses nombreux voyages (Constantinople, Rome, Suisse, Espagne) lui inspirent des recits qui constituent la meilleure partie de son oeuvre, apres les contes. Mais ses compatriotes lui reprochent justement de parcourir le monde uniquement pour y trouver la celebrite, et ses recits sont mieux accueillis en Allemagne ou le roi lui decerne l'ordre de l'Aigle rouge en 1846 et dans tous les autres pays d'Europe. Andersen a un talent particulier pour se faire des amis a l'etranger, ce qu'aucun autre ecrivain scandinave ne reussit a faire. Alexandre Dumas l'appelle le bon, l'aimable poete danois . Bien que ses romans et pieces de theatres n'aient pas connu le succes qu'il souhaitait, Andersen a tout de meme ete fete de son vivant et reconnu dans son pays. Ceci surtout grace a ses contes traduits et apprecies dans le monde entier, mais aussi grace a sa personnalite etrange et attachante. En decembre 1860, il est recu par le roi Christian IX de Danemark a Copenhague comme un membre de la famille et devient le conteur de ses enfants. Il est alors le plus celebre de tous les Danois vivants. Andersen goute avec delectation cette revanche sur sa vie d'enfant pauvre et meprise. Ma vie est un beau conte de fees, riche et heureux, ainsi commence sa derniere autobiographie (Mit Livs Eventyr) destinee a etre lue du monde entier et dans laquelle il declare voir sa vie sous un angle romanesque. Tout comme certains de ses contes ou le comportement anthropomorphique des animaux ramene a une parabole autobiographique tel Le Vilain Petit Canard ou l'on reconnait les tribulations d'Andersen avant sa transformation en cygne. La premiere publication complete de ses oeuvres a Leipzig en 1848 comprend trente cinq volumes, a laquelle se sont rajoutes les 34 volumes de celle de 1868. This item is printed on demand. You may use the attached model cancellation form, but it is not obligatory. You can also electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". If you use this option, we will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a cancellation on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the cancellation deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right to cancel before the cancellation period has expired.
Effects of cancellation
If you cancel this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to cancel with contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to us or CitiRetail, ABC Books c/o International Logistics, Unit 2D Gatwick Gate Industrial Estate, RH11 0TG, Lowfield Heath, United Kingdom, 44 020 3290 3457, without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your cancellation from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
