Synopsis:

This concise and easy-to-read book deals with the theory and practice of content based methodology. It begins by showing the importance of integration of teaching units of one discipline with those of other disciplines and a critical evaluation of the subject curriculum, syllabi and textbook to identify their limitations. Besides, considerations which teachers need to take into account before teaching their subjects, pedagogical analysis of content, selection of proper approaches, teaching methods, and models of teaching to suit the nature of teaching contents are also explained. Finally, those factors which are to be taken into account for verifying whether the objectives have been achieved or not are discussed with sufficient examples. About the Author: ANANT N. JOSHI, Ph.D., is Director, School of Education, Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU), Nashik. He is on the advisory body of the South Asian Consortium for Teacher Education. He is also President of Maharashtra Association for Teacher Education, and a member of the Advisory Committee of B.Ed. programme in Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). A recipient of "Quality of Life Award of 2001", conferred by the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) London, Dr. Joshi has over 75 re-search papers and three books in English published to his credit. KAVITA S. SALUNKE, Ph.D., is Lecturer in School of Education, YCMOU. She has to her credit more than 80 books in Marathi and one book in English. A recipient of Dadasaheb Gaikwad Award, Dr. Salunke has completed 14 research projects on topics such as teaching methods, modular curriculum, curriculum development, and content-cum-methodology.
