Item description from seller
Joel Upton isn't interested in presenting a theory or argument. Instead, he invites readers to accompany him on a journey of encounter, engagement and reflection. On this path readers will find ways to focus, intensify and deepen a shared capacity for contemplative beholding (the act of being still and quiet) not only with works of art, but as a way of life. There is also a companion website where readers will find examples of painting, sculpture and architecture which offer opportunities for practising beholding. This book will help readers to experience a transformation in the way they behold art and see themselves in it. The result is a process of change, growth and transformation and ultimately one of renewal.
