Print on Demand. This book explores the history, principles, and charitable work of the Sons of Temperance, a fraternal organization committed to promoting temperance. Beginning as a small group in New York City, the organization grew rapidly, embodying the concerns of the early-19th-century temperance movement in America. The author traces the group's beliefs, rituals, and charitable activities and argues that the Sons of Temperance emerged as an influential force in the larger debate over alcohol consumption. By examining the organization's history, this book sheds light on one of the most prominent social reform initiatives of the period. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.
