This is the first publication of its kind for Uganda and provides up-to-date names and synonymy on over 800 species. A conservation assessment is given for each species, and for the ‘vulnerable’ species, a full page treatment includes a description, illustration, distribution map, graph on flowering/fruiting times, with notes on threats and habitat. This publication will be useful for botanists, conservation workers and CBD enforcers.

Henk Beentjeis a botanist based in the Herbarium at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. His many books includeConservation Checklist of the Trees of Uganda, Field Guide to the Mangrove Trees of Africa and Madagascar, andField Guide to the Palms of Madagascar. He served as the editor of the decade-spanningFlora of Tropical East Africa series, also from Kew.
