This great country with all its grand diversity is assuredly being tested. It has long been said that a house divided cannot stand. That thought is terrifying! We the people are not the enemy, are we? We must get through this time of tumultuous change. Let's open our eyes and hearts and keep our freedom alive! this is a great time of accelerated growth for humans, and, somehow, we must come together to raise our consciousness as a whole. -Cindy Lee Scoot (in Introduction)
This is a book of verse--written from the heart of Cindy Lee Scott, the Poet Laureate of Mountain Quest Institute, edited by Dr. Alex Bennet. Cindy and Alex some eight years ago spent one week together at the Inn at Mountain Quest--occurring several months after they discovered each other--full sisters who did not meet (and indeed, adopted, Alex did not know she existed) until they moved into their 70's. For the exploration of nature versus nurture that this enabled, see "With Passion, We Live and Love: Research, Prose, Verse and Music" (by Alex Bennet and Cindy Lee Scott) available on Amazon.
Excerpt from the Introduction by the poet: While watching the 2016 Presidential campaign, I was shaken with extreme agitation. This reality show didn’t even seem real! ... This incision-division continues to create a widening gulf between the people of our country. Even friends and families are polarized in the “who’s right and who’s wrong” political frenzy! ... What’s going on? How did we get here? Have I been asleep? This collection of prose and poetry motifs represent my journey searching for truth and, ultimately, discovering the beauty that can be found in change, not only politically but inwardly. I ask myself: What is freedom’s definition in these changing times? And what can I do to help ensure the freedoms we so cherish? This great country with all its grand diversity is assuredly being tested. It has long been said that a house divided cannot stand. ... This is a great time of accelerated growth for humans, and, somehow, we must come together to raise our consciousness as a whole.
