Conflicts abound all over the human globe. Formation of the League of Nations after the First World War, and the United Nations after the Second World War was a result of conflict. It could occur between nations as in the case of Russia and Ukraine; Israel and Palestine; North and South Koreas. It could occur within a nation as in the case of numerous separatist agitations. It could be political or ideological. It could take the form of a physical combat or cold shoulders.
The whole idea behind this book is for people to be conscious of the plausibility of conflict wherever human beings live, work and interact. Therefore, the more individuals become aware of the possibility of attaining peace through mediation and dialogue, the easier it is to reduce violence in society.
Conflicts happen every day at home, work, worship place, civil society. Conflicts exist between parent and child, husband and wife, employer and employee, student and teacher, the list is endless. It is within the purview of this book to discuss how to deal with conflicts before and after any escalation. Specifically, the use of mediation in conflict resolution is one central focus of this work. It is the avowed opinion of the author that after a conflict, there is hope for reconciliation. This reconciliation is made possible by proper mediation techniques.
The uniqueness of this book is particularly resident in its diverse target audiences: college and university students, politicians and diplomats, psychologists and philosophers, religious and secular readers, historians and contemporary learners, families and establishments. The work is appropriate for studies in political science, jurisprudence, social science, religious studies, leadership training, mediation and conflict resolution.
Aimed at education, the work will benefit students and teachers and other individuals who are interested in learning new things. Its presentation is such that any interested reader could easily understand its subject matter. It is practicable, simple and direct, leaving no room for ambiguity.
