First edition, "Reprint A" as per BAL 5231. Chipping to the edges of the spine. Previous owner's bookplate on front free endpaper. Rubbing to the bottom corners. Attached to the front fixed endpaper is an authorial signed letter, ASL, by Emerson reading: "My Dear Sir, I have only this morning received by letter from Providence confirming your statement, that their day is Tuesday, moreover, requesting a change of my day, and, as at ___ adviced I will come to you on Wednesday, 6th Dec. ___you do me the honor to make it important.
