REFERENCES: DORN OH 426 (reprint); Not in NEVINS ; Ryan 279: The author in the preparation of this work has had free recourse to a number of diaries kept by members of his regiment throughout its term of service. The result is an entertaining and faithful record of its heroes, its marches, its battles, and its service at the front. This history gives the record of the regiment by years, and in chronological form narrates the incidents of service and the military life of the organization. It also contains (pp. 130-211) a complete roster of the field and staff. The appendix contains an original poem by the chaplain of the regiment, Rev. J. K. Andrews, and biographical sketches of its officers killed in battle." FOX 300 pg 334.
