From marble palaces to filthy slums, from scientific breakthroughs to brutal executions, Rome was a civilization of astonishing contrasts — and unbelievable ambition.
This fast-paced, immersive book reveals how a tiny settlement on the River Tiber rose to dominate the ancient world. Discover the conquests, the culture, and the bloody power struggles that shaped history — and left a legacy that still defines our laws, architecture, language, and politics today.
