"The authors are exceptionally knowledgeable, the editing is impeccable, and overall, of all the one-volume compendiums, this is indubitably the book of choice." --From the Foreword to the first edition by Hans J. Eysenck
Named "Reference Book of the Year" by the American Library Association, the Concise Encyclopedia of Psychology set a new standard for psychology references that has remained unmatched until now. This Second Edition has been thoroughly updated and expanded to reflect all developments in psychology that have occurred since the publication of the first edition. It was edited with the guidance of 36 consulting and associate editors (including 17 past presidents of the American Psychological Association) and now contains more than 2,000 articles--including hundreds of new entries in all major categories of psychology--written by 500 authorities in their fields.
In orchestrating this valuable reference, Raymond Corsini and Alan Auerbach have incorporated into a single volume all substantive entries found in Dr. Corsini's landmark four-volume Encyclopedia of Psychology, Second Edition, which--for scope of coverage, authority, and utility--continues to be peerless in the field.
This complete reference for busy practitioners, researchers, and students: *Provides quick access to all important psychological terms, concepts, theories, and practices *Offers highly readable entries written by leading figures in contemporary psychology *Covers every major branch of psychology, including applied, clinical, cognitive, developmental, educational, forensic, industrial, physiological, social, and theoretical *Provides comprehensive coverage from adolescent sex offenders to Z-score, from conduct disorders to shamanism *Supplies biographical summaries of important figures in the history of psychology *Features an accessible style suitable for both lay readers and professionals
The Concise Encyclopedia of Psychology, Second Edition, belongs in the working libraries of all mental health professionals. It is also an indispensable resource for students of psychology, psychiatry, and social work, as well as for lay readers with an interest in psychology.
