About the Author: Jacqueline Corricelli teaches AP(R) Computer Science Principles, AP(R) Computer Science A, and Cryptography & Cybersecurity at Conard High School in West Hartford, Connecticut. A public school educator since 2003, she believes that students at all levels can and should learn computer science. As a College Board course developer and pilot instructor for AP(R) Computer Science Principles, Ms. Corricelli crisscrossed the United States to help power the largest course launch in the history of the AP(R) program.
Her passion for computer science education transcends the classroom. In 2019, she was named to the first-ever Computer Science Teachers Association Equity Fellowship. The fellowship is devoted to closing educational disparities affecting female students, underrepresented students of color, English language learners, and special-needs students. Ms. Corricelli is also a recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, America's highest honor for K-12 teachers of mathematics and science. Formerly a radar systems engineer, Ms. Corricelli is a member of the Connecticut Department of Education CS Advisory Group, which works to improve access to computer science education. She is Vice President of the Connecticut Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA CT). She earned her B.A. in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Connecticut and her M.S. in Mathematics Secondary Education from Westfield State University.
