This book on Pediatric Urology encompasses the specifics of bladder function and a wide spectrum of bladder disorders. Urodynamics—both non-invasive and invasive—provides a comprehensive understanding of bladder function and dysfunction. This book is dedicated to offering an in-depth understanding of the role of urodynamics in various pediatric bladder conditions and how its interpretation can guide the management of such cases.

Throughout the book, an effort has been made to include all relevant clinical details associated with each curve, so that the curve can be interpreted in relation to the disease and its clinical implications. The book contains a section on urodynamic findings in common pediatric bladder diseases, enabling readers to understand the urodynamic findings related to different varieties, stages, and severities of these diseases.

This book also encapsulates a few controversial topics, such as invasive urodynamics in infants and children with VUR, and the role of pressure-flow studies in children, which are not discussed in detail in other texts. The book covers all practical points, ensuring that any pediatric urologist, pediatric nephrologist, or urologist can acquire sufficient knowledge to set up a urodynamics lab and start performing quality urodynamic studies in children.

Dr. Subhasis Saha (MS, M.Ch, DNB) graduated from Medical College Kolkata, the first medical college in Asia. He completed his post-graduation in General Surgery and his post-doctoral studies in Pediatric Surgery, followed by attaining the Diplomate of National Board in Pediatric Surgery in 2003. He is the founding chairperson of “Association of Adolescent Surgery and Transitional Care” - a chapter of Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons. He is the Senior Consultant Pediatric Surgeon and Head of the Department of Pediatric Surgery at Manipal Hospital Mukundapur. Since 2003, he has been independently managing complex congenital defects in children. Pediatric Urology constitutes 70% of his work. He has around 20 peer-reviewed publications in various journals and has delivered numerous talks and presentations, being invited as faculty at almost all national meetings over the last 15 years. He was the past Chairperson of the Society of Pediatric Urology, a chapter of the Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons, and an executive member of IAPS. Currently, he is one of the editors of the Journal of the Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons. He was the organizing chairperson of the last annual conference of SPU held in September 2024 in Kolkata.

Dr. Poonam Guha Vaze completed her MCh in Pediatric Surgery from PGIMER Chandigarh in 2011. She has been practicing as a consultant Pediatric Surgeon in Kolkata since 2018. She has had a keen interest in Pediatric Bladder dysfunctions and Urodynamics since the beginning of her career. She has been performing urodynamics exclusively in children for the last 13 years and has experience in performing invasive urodynamics in over 1,000 children. She imbibed the experience of adult urologists, like Dr. Sirish Yande (Pune), and incorporated this knowledge into pediatric practice. She has penned several articles dedicated to untouched aspects of pediatric urodynamics, such as pressure flow study parameters. She has presented her findings, conducted workshops, and given lectures at several national conferences. Teaming with Dr. Subhasis Saha, she organized an online ICCS educational course on Pediatric Bladder Dysfunction in 2022, which was a huge success.
