Published by the Colonial Press Company in Boston and New York. The volumes contain full-page color illustrations by brothers C.E. and H.M. Brock. "Letters" also has black & white portraits, and a fold-out facsimile of a letter written by Austen. All plates are present and securely attached, and are protected by a tissue guard. Uncommon three-quarter leather bound volumes with marbled covers, five raised bands and gilt lettering/decorations on the spines, marbled end papers, and gilt top page edges. Volume I of "Sense and Sensibility" contains a biography of Austen, a facsimile of the novel's 1st edition title page from 1811, and a "Bibliography of the Writings of Jane Austen." Eleven volumes of a twelve volume set ("Pride and Prejudice" Volume I is missing).
The collection contains the following 11 volumes:

Overall the collection is in Good- condition. All volumes are tightly bound with no cracks and no loose pages. All covers are firmly attached. Nice interiors - the pages are clean with no notable issues found. Bright gilt top page edges; bright gilt lettering and accents on the spines. There are tears to the leather at the top of the spines of Sense and Sensibility Vols I & II; Vol II also has a 2" split to the leather at the top-right corner where the spine meets the front cover (the front cover remains firmly attached). Persuasion, Mansfield Park Vol II, Pride and Prejudice Vol II, and Letters Vol II each have small tears to the leather at the top edge of the spines. The leather has split along the right edge of the Northanger Abbey - despite the split, the front cover remains firmly attached. Occasional chipping to the paper along the edges of the boards.
