What if the ordinary quarter in your pocket change is more interesting than it first appears?
For nearly a century, Washington quarters have evolved through silver issues, copper-nickel clad coinage, the Bicentennial design, State Quarters, America the Beautiful issues, American Women Quarters, and the newest commemorative era. Along the way, key dates, scarce mint marks, striking errors, doubled dies, high-grade condition rarities, and collectible varieties have created an enormous field for collectors to explore.
The Complete Washington Quarter Collecting Bible is designed for both newcomers taking their first steps into coin collecting and experienced collectors who want a practical reference for identifying, grading, buying, selling, and evaluating Washington quarters.
Instead of piecing together information from scattered price guides, auction records, collector discussions, and specialist references, this guide brings the major skills of Washington Quarter collecting together in one structured resource.
You will explore the history of the series from the original 1932 silver issues through clad and modern commemorative quarters, while learning how mint marks, composition, condition, varieties, and errors can affect collector interest and value. The book also covers the famous 1932-D and 1932-S key dates, silver-era grading, doubled dies, mint errors, State Quarters, America the Beautiful issues, and modern collecting opportunities.
Inside, you will learn how to:
- Identify Washington quarters by date, mint mark, design, composition, and era
- Distinguish 90% silver quarters from clad coins using practical identification methods
- Understand the 1932-D and 1932-S key dates and other conditionally scarce issues
- Recognize notable doubled dies, overmintmarks, mint errors, and collectible varieties
- Understand the Sheldon 1-to-70 grading system as it applies specifically to Washington quarters
- Evaluate wear, strike quality, luster, toning, cleaning, and other factors that influence grade
- Spot warning signs associated with altered coins, added mint marks, cleaning, and post-mint damage
- Research values more intelligently using price guides, population information, and recent auction records
- Develop practical approaches to coin shows, dealers, online marketplaces, roll searching, and cherrypicking
- Build collections by date, mint, type, commemorative program, variety, or grade
- Store and handle coins in ways that help protect their condition
- Organize collection records for future selling, insurance, and estate planning
Whether you have one inherited quarter, a jar filled with old change, rolls from the bank, a growing State Quarter collection, or certified coins already in your collection, this guide gives you a more systematic way to examine what you own.
The result is a resource you can keep nearby while checking pocket change, examining dealer inventory, searching coin rolls, preparing for a coin show, researching an unfamiliar variety, or reviewing your collection.
Disclaimer: This book is for educational and informational purposes only. Coin prices, market values, grading opinions, precious-metal prices, and collector demand can change. Nothing in the book should be considered financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.
Do not wait until an interesting quarter has already passed through your hands. Build your knowledge now, sharpen your collector's eye, and make every coin you examine an opportunity to learn.

Store description
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
