Item description from seller

Boston: Phillips, Sampson, and Company, 1854. Scottish poet Thomas Campbell (1777-1844) wrote in what might be called a didactic romanticism. In addition to his literary work, he was one of the founders of the University of London. His American editor, Epes Sargent (1813-1880), had a literary career of his own as a member of the "Knickerbocker Group." This is a Very Good (Plus) copy of a Later Printing of the First American Edition (from a year earlier). This edition is uncommon, and not usually listed among Sargent's works. . Brown cloth binding, decoratively stamped on the covers and spine. Lettering on the spine is gilt, somewhat faded but completely visible. Clean text; 479 pages. Mildly cocked; with very light wear. A sound copy. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Later Printing. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
