Paperback. The Complete Peacock Keepers Guide is a comprehensive handbook designed to provide both beginners and experienced aviculturists with the knowledge needed to successfully raise, manage, and enjoy peafowl. Covering every stage of peafowl care, the guide combines practical husbandry techniques with ethical management principles to help keepers maintain healthy, productive, and thriving birds. The book begins by introducing the fascinating history, biology, and characteristics of peafowl, including the three recognized species: the Indian Peafowl, Green Peafowl, and Congo Peafowl. Readers gain an understanding of peafowl anatomy, natural behaviors, lifespan, and the unique features that make these birds among the world's most admired ornamental species. Housing and enclosure design are explored in detail, emphasizing predator protection, adequate space, ventilation, shelter, drainage, fencing, and roost construction. Proper enclosure planning ensures that peafowl can safely express their natural behaviors while remaining protected from environmental hazards and predators. Nutrition is presented as one of the most important aspects of successful peafowl management. The guide explains the nutritional requirements of chicks, juveniles, breeding adults, and senior birds while discussing balanced diets, seasonal feeding adjustments, natural foraging, supplements, clean water management, and the prevention of nutritional deficiencies. Health management receives extensive attention, with chapters dedicated to disease prevention, biosecurity, parasite control, routine health examinations, vaccination considerations, and recognizing early signs of illness. Preventive care is emphasized as the most effective strategy for maintaining flock health and reducing veterinary costs. Behavior and communication are examined to help keepers better understand body language, vocalizations, social structures, territorial behavior, courtship displays, and seasonal changes in activity. By interpreting these natural behaviors correctly, keepers can improve welfare, reduce stress, and strengthen flock stability. The breeding chapters explain reproductive biology, selecting breeding stock, maintaining genetic diversity, preparing nesting areas, collecting and incubating eggs, and caring for newly hatched peachicks. Readers learn both natural and artificial incubation techniques while gaining an appreciation for ethical breeding practices that prioritize health over appearance. Comprehensive guidance is provided for raising peachicks, covering brooder preparation, temperature management, feeding programs, growth monitoring, predator protection, disease prevention, and gradual introduction to adult birds. Proper early care is shown to be the foundation for healthy, long-lived adult peafowl. Advanced flock management topics include record keeping, selective breeding, housing expansion, emergency preparedness, environmental sustainability, financial planning, and long-term flock organization. These principles support both hobby keepers and larger breeding operations. The guide also explores peafowl genetics and color varieties, introducing readers to the many recognized mutations while emphasizing the importance of maintaining structural soundness, fertility, temperament, and genetic diversity alongside attractive plumage. Ethics and conservation are central themes throughout the book. Responsible ownership, legal responsibilities, habitat conservation, animal welfare, and public education are presented as essential components of modern peafowl keeping. Readers are encouraged to contribute positively to the preservation of these remarkable birds through responsible breeding and informed stewardship. The final chapters focus on lifelong learning, mentoring new keepers, preparing for f Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.…
