Add to basketThe Complete Motorist by A. B. Filson Young is an early 20th-century book detailing the evolution, construction, selection, use, and maintenance of the modern motor-car, alongside reflections on the pleasures of road travel. The edition published by McClure, Phillips & Company was released in 1905 in New York, following earlier editions by Methuen in London (1904).
The book serves as both a technical guide and a cultural commentary on the nascent age of motoring. It includes insights into automotive technology of the era, practical advice for drivers, and contributions from prominent figures in the motoring world, such as a letter from racer Charles Jarrott and, in later editions, one from Rudyard Kipling.
This copy is in Near Fine condition - there is just a little wear inside the front cover between the cover and the first page - see photos. Otherwise, the book is in very good condition - it is a book of over 120 years old.
