Complete miniature deck of 52 playing cards, watercolour on card, each c. 25 x 18 mm. on thin card stock, the court cards standing single rather than double headed, the latter convention being accepted in around 1860 in England, though earlier in Europe. Probably of English origin, notwithstanding that they were found in a French flea market by a previous owner; the "duty ace" mimics the English design with the lion [more like a pussy cat] and unicorn as supporters.
