NY: Doubleday & Company, 1973. xii, 339pp; index; b&w illus. Tan cloth; red and black spine titles; dust jacket. Remainder speckling to base of textblock; light foxing to top and upper fore-edge of textblock. Unclipped jacket with small chip to top of front panel. Very good. A "comprehensive survey of man's many ways of attempting to foretell the future" (jacket flap), laying out the history, legends and theories behind a wide range of divination practices, both Eastern and Western. This copy presumably an early reprint: copyright page lacks "first edition" statement, though the "O50" code to gutter of p. 336 would indicate a printing in late 1973. Drawings by Murray Keshner.
