Using interviews with 28 top English Setter breeders, author Candace Darnforth has created an in-depth look at what it REALLY takes to successfully live with, raise, and train an English Setter.
Covering Setter-specific topics you NEED TO KNOW, such as:
- How their history as a hunting dog impacts every aspect of their personality
- The difference between working and show lines
- How to start fieldwork training early and effectively
- Helpful strategies for integrating your English Setter with your family and existing pets
- How schedules and routines are vital to your Setters' training
- Proactive ways to ensure your Setter is healthy, including common Setter diseases to look out for
If you are considering bringing an English Setter into your home (or already have!) then you need to read this book as soon as possible!
This book will give you all the information you need not only to decide if an English Setter is the right fit for your household, but also to guide you to the right individual dog, and how to properly train it. In these pages, you will discover the answers to such crucial questions as:
- How should I prepare differently if I’m adopting an adult English Setter?
- How do I prepare my home for an active, energetic English Setter Puppy?
- What training methods are most effective for English Setters?
- What adjustments should I make as my Setter ages into their golden years?
English Setters are easy to train and are loyal companions. Like most bird-hunting breeds, English Setters have a happy, upbeat and alert personality. They love people and animals and are neither aggressive nor shy. Many English Setters are working dogs, spending their days hunting or performing field competitions, and the rest of their time, they live contented as house pets. English Setters are dogs who form a close, tight-knit bond with people and thrive on attention.
Their loving nature makes them the ideal pet for both first-time and veteran pet owners. This book will enrich you and your dog’s lives together and will help you care for him from day one.
From the first page to the last page of this book, you will discover how to navigate all aspects of your English Setter’s life – from puppyhood to old age and everything in between. The Complete Guide to the English Setters will answer all of your questions, along with many you might not have even thought of.
This book delves into nearly every aspect of the English Setter breed, including:
- How to train your English Setter with love
- A complete guide to different training methods.
- Solutions to common Setter behavior problems, such as barking, biting, chewing, and aggression
- How to make potty training as quick, and as easy as possible
- Why and how to crate train your English Setter
- When and how to effectively socialize your English Setter
- How to meet your dog’s nutritional needs throughout his entire life
- Feeding, grooming, and general care
