A clear, practical, and clinically focused handbook for healthcare professionals who want to master Complete Blood Count (CBC) interpretation in adults, children and neonates.
Complete Blood Count Interpretation for Healthcare Professionals: A Step-by-Step Approach from CBC to Clinical Diagnosis is a comprehensive yet easy-to-understand guide designed for healthcare professionals involved in patient care and routinely working with CBC results.
The Complete Blood Count (CBC) is one of the most frequently requested laboratory investigations and plays an important role in the assessment of anaemia, infections, inflammation, haematological malignancies, platelet disorders and many other clinical conditions. However, producing accurate results is only one component of quality laboratory service. Correct interpretation, clinical correlation and appropriate communication of results are equally important for effective patient care.
The book was developed to address this practical need. It provides a structured approach to CBC interpretation through:
CBC Results → Pattern Recognition → Blood Film Correlation → Further Investigation → Clinical Reasoning → Most Likely Diagnosis
The complexities of the CBC are broken down into simple, actionable steps that can be applied in routine clinical practice. Readers are provided with practical tools to interpret CBC results with greater confidence, accuracy and clinical relevance.
With a strong focus on real-world clinical application, the book covers interpretation strategies, pattern recognition and a systematic approach to investigating common haematological abnormalities across different age groups. Each section takes the reader from essential haematological principles to practical clinical interpretation.
Inside this book:• Essential principles of blood cell formation and related disorders.
• How to interpret RBC indices, WBC differentials, reticulocyte parameters and platelet indices.
• How to recognize and interpret abnormal histograms and instrument flags.
• How to recognize spurious or misleading CBC results and avoid misinterpretations.
• How to correlate CBC abnormalities with clinical presentations.
• How to correlate CBC findings with peripheral blood film morphology.
• Step-by-step investigation of anaemias, leucocyte abnormalities, platelet abnormalities and polycythaemia in adults, children and neonates.
• Appropriate follow-up and confirmatory investigations.
• A compact and dependable reference for quick access to essential information at the point of care.
• Practical case studies that reinforce understanding and strengthen diagnostic reasoning.
The book is intended as a practical reference for Medical Laboratory Professionals, Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurses, Pharmacists, Residents, Interns, students and other healthcare professionals who routinely encounter CBC results.

**Please note our transit times are from the date of dispatch.** We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone.
