A smart copy of this illustrated edition of Izaak Walton's classic work, 'The Compleat Angler'. Privately printed. Illustrated with eight etchings on Japon Vellum and many in-text images. Collated complete. Originally written in the mid-seventeenth century, this work is a celebration of the art and spirit of fishing written in prose and verse, reflecting the author's connection to the River Dive in central England, Stafford, and parts of London. Written by Izaak Walton, an English writer best known for this work. With contributions from Charles Cotton, an English poet and writer. Edited by John Major, an English publisher and bookseller. Illustrated by Benjamin Damman, a French printmaker, etcher, and painter. In the original green cloth binding. Externally, smart with rubbing to the extremities and minor bumping. Light fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot or handling mark. Light age toning to the endpapers. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper. Very Good.…
