Four volumes bound as two. [4], 264; [2], ii, 256; ii, 244; [2], 215pp, [1]. With five engraved plates. Nineteenth-century green half-cloth, marbled paper boards. Slightest of wear to extremities. Ink annotations to endpapers, expertly repaired tears to title and first contents leaf of Vol. III, occasional light foxing. This edition was likely the first to be legally produced in France, with the authorities presumably too distracted by the contemporary political atmosphere in the nation. Size: 12mo.…

Store description
Established 2007, Antiquates Ltd is an Antiquarian bookseller with a large, custom built shop in the heart of the Dorset countryside. We sell fine and rare books from our Wareham shop, in catalogues, and via our website (www.antiquates.co.uk). Specialising in early printed books both English and Continental, fine English Literature, and books by, for, and about Women and Children, we nevertheless stock a wide range of works on paper from 1500-present - including modern first editions. Our bias is towards the unusual, the interesting and the important - and always have a good stock of rare books by local authors such as T.E. Lawrence and Thomas Hardy; we are just the place if you're looking for an extra-special gift for a wedding, birthday, anniversary or graduation. (Open Wednesday - Saturday, 10am-4pm)…
