Overview of a WWI unit’s journey from draft to demobilization
This nonfiction work chronicles the skeleton outline of Company F, 319th Infantry—its formation, training, career in France, and eventual demobilization. It presents the important dates and key places the unit passed through, while letting readers recall their own experiences of military life. Through clear, fact‑driven narrative, the book follows daily life in camp, the shift from civilian to soldier, and the steady build of teamwork. It emphasizes memory and shared duty, with personal exploits intentionally kept secondary to collective effort.
- How a regiment trains, organizes, and adapts at a new camp
- From barracks routines to field drills, and the move toward combat readiness
- Social moments and morale boosters that helped troops cope with long deployments
- A chronological arc from camp life to furloughs, travel, and demobilization
