Printed to accompany the sixth edition of Ronald's book of the same title. Letterpress title and 12 pp. of text on 8 leaves, these leaves interleaved with six leaves made of vellum strips sewn together to form four pockets per page, at the center a pair of 'leaves? of white felt, flanking a single vellum leaf. The pockets and felts with a total of 60 actual examples of eyeless trout and salmon flies (likely 19th century?), most with attached gut. Original morocco wallet with strap, holder and clasp all still present. Front pocket of wallet with two more samples laid in. Some deterioration to some of the flies but an extremely handsome copy of this angler's favorite.Fly wallets were quite popular in the 19th century, and come in a number of different forms. The best known maker was Richard Wheatley. The present example, printed by Whitehead of Birmingham, seems to be from a rarer group.
