This book reports on a large research project on community regeneration, which integrated the spatial, social, economic and organizational factors with the dimensions of sustainability, resilience and participation. Upon providing a detailed review on concepts of community and urban regeneration, it analyses a set of successful case studies from 30 European cities, which were selected by the authors from different rankings and awards. Fifty-seven key performance indicators and the results of self-assessment questionnaires are here introduced to allow a comparative study of best practices and eventually to outline 20 guidelines and 100 strategic actions for future community regeneration projects. All in all, this book offers extensive information and a source of inspiration for urban planners, economists, sociologists, public administrators, stakeholders and all those involved in the development and management of sustainable cities.

About the Author
Francesco Manfredi, Ph.D., is Full Professor of Public Governance & Management, Vice Rector for Postgraduate Managerial Training and Dean of the School of Management at LUM University. Former Director of the PhD Program in "Economics and Management of Natural Resources", he is also a faculty member of the International PhD Program in "Economics and Management of Innovation and Sustainability”. Further, he is the Scientific Director of the second level University Masters "Management & E-Governance of the Public Administration" and “Change Management & Social Innovation”. Scientific Director of several research projects at national and international levels, his research has been focusing on issues of public management, local governance and public policies. He is the author of numerous international publications, including the books “Community Governance Comunità in azione” and "Smart Community Comunità sostenibili e resilienti”, published by Cacucci editore in 2013 and2015, respectively.
Dario Costi, Arch. PhD, is Full Professor in Architectural and Urban Design in the Department of Engineering and Architecture at the University of Parma. He is the Director of the interdisciplinary teaching and research project “Smart City 4.0 Sustainable LAB”, which is promoted by the University of Parma in cooperation with the Emilia-Romagna regional government and the public digital infrastructure Lepida, and involves the Universities of Ferrara, Bologna, Modena and Reggio-Emila, Piacenza as well as local Authorities and stakeholders. He is member of the PhD Program in Civil Engineering and Architecture at the University of Parma and at the Faculties of Architecture of the University of Palermo and Sapienza University of Rome. He is active both as a professional and as a researcher in the architectural and urban design field. He is the co-owner of the MC2 Architecture Studio in Parma. Since 2007 he is serving as President of Parma Urban Center, ofwhich he is also the co-founder. Involved in numerous national projects for fostering education in architecture and urban design, Professor Costi is the author of many Italian publications, and Editor of two Italian book series published by MUP Editore, Parma. Since 2020, he is the editor of the international book series “The City Project - Strategies for Smart and Wise Sustainable Urban Design”, published by Springer. He is also serving as a lecturer for the Program Master Housing at Roma Tre University, in Rome, and for other Master Programs at the University of Parma, Trani, Lecce and Matera. Since 2018 he is serving as Scientific Director of the Higher Education Courses in Urban Strategic Design at the LUM School of Management in Bari. Since 2021, as part of this collaboration, he has been developing the guidelines for the urban regeneration of Italian cities for the SNA - National School of Administration

Right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer you can withdraw from the contract in accordance with the following. Consumer means any natural person who is acting for purposes which are outside his trade, business, craft or profession.

Statutory right to withdraw
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the last good or the last lot or piece.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". We will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a withdrawal on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back, or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to Kennys Bookstore, Olney, Maryland, U.S.A., without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your withdrawal from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
Exceptions to the right of withdrawal
The right of withdrawal does not apply to:
- The delivery of newspapers, journals or magazines with the exception of subscription contracts; and
- The supply of digital content which is not supplied on a tangible medium (e.g. on a CD or DVD) if you accepted when you placed your order that we could start to deliver it, and that you could not withdraw once delivery had started.
