There is a table that holds the world together.
He wanted His tithe to be eaten in His presence. “Bring the firstfruits,” He said, “and come—come to this particular place, and then eat it together with Me.” God, preparing a picnic for His people just because He is love.
And so we come, the bedraggled, the hungry; we come and we sit and we stare into the face of the most loving of Gods, split three down the middle yet wholly One, pouring Himself into our goblet and serving Himself as the lamb, the bread, the water, and simply saying, “Eat, drink, remember Me.”
The world is a table upon which He serves Himself, and it holds us together.
This 70-day devotional on communion with God is a unique literary journey that is at once poetic, transparent, and authentic. One of the only devotionals to be written exclusively on the theme of the Eucharist, or Communion, it delivers daily meals in which you are invited, through compelling stories, to feast on Jesus. Its lyric narrative style moves the heart, offering spiritual food that heals as it satisfies the deep hunger and thirst of those desperate to know that God is truly real and still does miracles.
Based on moving narratives inspired by the writer’s broken journey through anorexia, which eventually led to the founding of a ministry that feeds mothers and children, it also challenges us to ultimately become communion to the world—to be broken and poured out for those who are both physically impoverished and spiritually isolated. To invite them back to their loving God and be restored to oneness with Him.
