Item description from seller

(Volume XCIX, No. 7). Small 4to. Wrappers. Pp. 147-199. Very good. Mild age toning, with bit of mild foxing to outer wrappers (only). 50th anniversary issue of this "Weekly Review of Public Affairs, Literature and the Arts," reprinting memorable contributions from Dorothy Day, Wilfrid Sheed, Thomas Merton, Hans Kung, G.K. Chesterton, Daniel Berrigan and others. (In 1963 Beecher published "On Acquiring a Cistercian Breviary," a poem honoring his Trappist friend.) In addition, publisher EDWARD S. SKILLIN (1904-2000) of "Commonweal" boldly inscribes the front wrapper: "With best wishes / to John Beecher / Edward S. Skillin." An unusual and choice copy.…
