Small bookseller's ticket ("Wildy & Sons / London") to front pastedown. Property stamps to title page and page 399, contents otherwise clean and tight. A good, sound copy. $250. * First published in French in 1771, De Lolme's foundational text was a highly influential account of the English government, praised by William Blackstone and the authors of The Federalist Papers. This copy's provenance links it directly to the nineteenth-century legal community via the Birmingham Law Society (founded 1818) and London's historic legal book trade via Wildy & Sons, operating out of Lincoln's Inn Archway since 1830.…
