Print on Demand. This book examines the authenticity and reliability of early Roman History through a study of the sources and methods used by the ancient Roman historian Livy to construct his first ten books covering Roman history from its legendary founding in the 8th century BCE to the beginning of the 3rd century BCE. The author argues that Livy, the author of the influential History of Rome, made good use of the source material available to him, despite the loss of many important records in a fire, by consulting diverse sources, such as religious texts, official documents, and the works of earlier historians, giving as full a picture of Rome's early history as possible. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.
