Contributors from across disciplines and countries examine how comics mediate essential artistic elements-language, movement, space, and time-and how their hybrid nature invites new ways of thinking about art, narrative, and media. The collection features interviews with cartoonists Brian Fies, Meags Fitzgerald, Mélanie Leclerc, and Paul Tucker. Moving beyond traditional word/image binaries to focus on intermedial storytelling practices, this volume reimagines core concepts like panel, frame, sequence, and gesture, revealing how comics communicate across media boundaries. Whether referencing cinema, literature, or the digital arts, these essays illuminate the expressive power of comics and their place in a broader cultural and media landscape. 296 pp. Englisch.…
