Bound in full maroon, straight-grain leather, with five raised bands on the spine, and black and brown morocco leather title labels on the spine, with richly gilt designs in compartments, gilt double-line borders, gilt designs on the cover edges, inner, gilt dentelles on the leather turn-ins; and a gilt design of Romulus & Remus, based on the John Leech frontispiece, on the front cover; all edges gilt, sewn headbands, marbled endpapers. With the binder's stamp in the lower edges of the reverse of the front marbled flyleaf: Bound by Riviere & Son for Des Forces & Ce.
