5 1/2 inches x 8 1/2 in., half-title; colored, John Leech frontispiece of Romulus & Remus, with tissue guard; design title-page printed in red and black; preface; contents; list of engravings on steel; list of engravings on wood; xii, [1]-308 pp., illustrated with 10 colored steel engravings, and numerous, in-text wood engravings of John Leech drawings. Bound in full maroon, straight-grain leather, with five raised bands on the spine, and black and brown morocco leather title labels on the spine, with richly gilt designs in compartments, gilt double-line borders, gilt designs on the cover edges, inner, gilt dentelles on the leather turn-ins; and a gilt design of Romulus & Remus, based on the John Leech frontispiece, on the front cover; all edges gilt, sewn headbands, marbled endpapers. With the binder's stamp in the lower edges of the reverse of the front marbled flyleaf: Bound by Riviere & Son for Des Forces & Ce. A little light rubbing to the upper spine end, upper areas of outer hinges, else a well-preserved copy, and an attractive binding. Seller Inventory # F-173
