About this Item
19 x 24 cm colour photo on 31 x 36 cm board marked Lane's Studio, Calgary, Alta. Chipped top right corner. Bent top left corner. Photographer Ray Christie Lane (1889-1943), originally from Campbellford, Ontario, went west with his parents in 1903. He studied photography with E.B. Curlette of Calgary and moved to High River, Alberta in 1911 to establish his own photography studio. During First World War he served in the armed forces as an instructor in photography. He went back to operating his studio which by 1920 was called Lane's Studio. Besides his studio work, Lane also held photo contracts with oil companies and southern Alberta air schools. Being located in Alberta, it was perhaps natural to him to photograph mountains such as the Three Sisters near Canmore. Seller Inventory # 125022
