About the Author: A fourth-generation Coloradan, Bruce Caughey has had a lifelong interest in the state. These days, he can be found hiking, fishing, skiing, and biking in the mountains of Colorado or spending time at his family's cabin near Deckers. Doug Whitehead is the writer and producer of the award-winning program Colorado Getaways, for KCNC-TV Channel 4 in Denver.
