Synopsis

Using diagrams and descriptions of the principal facts of cases, this book illustrates the main points in more than 130 legal cases following the collision of ships. Divided into types of collision, it enables the reader to identify quickly those earlier circumstances which were similar to his own, thus helping him to establish the likely outcome of any particular dispute arising from a collision. The book is divided into the types of circumstance under which collisions occur. Part one deals with collisions in clear weather, part 2 with those occurring in restricted visibility. Each half of the book is further divided to take account of a wide variety of situations including, for example, collisions during overtaking. There have been many new cases since the publication of the first edition in 1986, and all these are included in the new edition, which also now covers those collision cases published in American Maritime Cases from 1976 to date.
