"Many might consider this text. My own reasons for considering this text is to give my students an awareness of the level of difficulty of college level classes. Often in ESL classes, students get into a comfort zone that then limits their success when they get to college level classes. This kind of text might ramp up their expectations before they enroll in degree applicable and transfer courses."
"Overall I think the concept of this series is quite good, and I particularly like the readings from Book 4. Alone the fact that diverse disciplines are represented in the text makes it quite appealing to programs such as ours which have paired advanced ESL [all skills] to other disciplines--American History, for example. This type of textbook would facilitate the ESL student' s successful transition from ESL to native language courses in the academic disciplines."
