"...thorough, cutting-edge research and clear, careful advice set this book above the rest - the best of all college financial aid books."- Richard L. Tombaugh, Former President, National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators

A college education is essential in a world where job upheaval and change is the norm. However, parents, students, and families are feeling the pinch of rising college costs. In fact, finding and keeping financial aid can be a student's most daunting educational task! With "College Financial Aid For Dummies™" students and families can discover and take advantage of the many different sources of money, whether scholarships, loans or work-study.

College Financial Aid For Dummies is a rich and innovative how-to guide written by financial aid experts who present solid information on finding money for college. It appeals to all students-- including those from middle-income families who think that they do not qualify for aid and it contains breakthrough tips and hints including:

1.Ways to legally avoid repaying loans and loan forgiveness contacts 2.Insider tips on writing a financial aid appeal letter for more free money 3.A 50-state directory of residency requirements to avoid higher fees 4.An up-to-date resource hot list for Internet, telephone and software 5.A recommended course of action when college debts become overwhelming

The idea for College Financial Aid For Dummies was born when respected college financial aid counselor Dr. Herm Davis and nationally syndicated careers columnist Joyce Lain Kennedy locked heads online. Together they produced a fresh kind of financial aid book that helps today's families find that money.

Dr. Davis, who knows the financial aid system inside out, shares refreshing insights from a true expert's perspective that can be worth thousands of dollars to each reader. While some financial aid books contain lengthy scholarship lists, bookended with theoretical advice from financial planners, Dr. Davis and Kennedy have produced a concise, fast-acting, how-to text that explains reasons and methods underlying the financial aid system in the United States -- topped with sure-fire ways to work that system to shake loose gift money.

College Financial Aid For Dummies' 432 pages show readers how to:

*Navigate the financial aid system to maximum advantage. Using information rooted in Dr. Davis' unmatched experience, this book reveals the kinds of insider knowledge that most financial aid guidebooks just can't deliver.

*Create a financial plan for four or more years of college without going broke. The wise student plans ahead, going beyond merely cobbling together a bandage or two to pay for next semester's costs (although College Financial Aid For Dummies does reveal rescue strategies when school starts next month and cash is scarce).

College Financial Aid for Dummies includes financial alternatives for adult and part-time students, as well as traditional students whose financially so-so parents can't or won't support their collegiate endeavors. Even with skyrocketing college costs and stiffer challenges on where to find money for school, students can now benefit from this how-to guide for getting financially ahead.
