Collecting on the Internet -- Catch the Wave!
Hi Readers!
I admit to being bitten by the Beanie Baby bug. I'm not sure how it compares with the Y2K bug, but I'll assure you it was pretty intense. I did things to acquire Beanie Babies that I'll own up to only in a recovery group where they know me as just "Nancy."
Beanies lured many of us to the Internet, where we discovered our collecting soul mates. We bought, sold, and traded our velour babes with people we knew only from the on-line guestbooks and chat rooms. Some folks got it down right away, but others needed a kick-start. (Hey the Internet can be scary if you don't know what's lurking!) So I helped other people. If they got nailed by a bad trader, I stepped in. I read other people's testimonials and socked all this knowledge away so I could share it with anyone using the Internet for buying, selling, and trading collectibles.
When I "graduated" to other collectibles like Harmony Kingdom, Harbour Lights, and Charming Tails, I was amazed to find that there were Internet followings for other lines of collectibles. All the protocol and strategies used in Beanie collecting also went on in other lines. Especially those auction sites. But how do they work? What are good selling and bidding strategies? And how on earth do some sellers get their auctions to look so NICE?? How lovely to have a handbook for this, I thought...
So here it is. I hope the insight I gained over the last few years is of help to you in your collecting. Your comments are important to me, as this is my first book. The foreword is by Noel C. Wiggins, president of the Harmony Ball Company.
Happy reading!!
Nancy L. Hix
