Item description from seller

4 vols. bound as 1, folio, pp. 37, [1]; 36; [ii], 36; [ii], 36, 2, ads]. Each page engraved. Contemporary quarter calf, vellum corners, marbled boards, spine divided by raised bands between gilt rules. A little scattered spotting, closed marginal tear to one leaf. Rubbed, spine leather cracked, label lost, some wear. Inscription of Mount Stuart House, Bute, to pastedown, inscription of Priscilla Lorimer to flyleaf dated 1948, remains of slip pasted to imprint of vol. 2. The final selection here gathered was printed by Gow and Shepherd in their shop at 41 North Bridge, where they were trading between 1796 and 1801, giving us a terminus date for its production. Gow?s sons produced a fifth and sixth volume after his death but these four form a coherent and consecutive lifetime set, in a contemporary binding.…
