The Realm of Why
A Misunderstanding
Who would think?
A hasty tongue, perhaps,
An undrawn thought?
It builds, and grown
Becomes, at last,
A misunderstanding.
Now sorrow breeds
And cannot mend,
For the tongue has slipped;
Now the mind runs rampant.
Each is wrong,
Yet,
Each is right,
But all is lost,
Perhaps
The dye is cast.
From the Collection "The Realm of Why" by David P Cresap
A Zero
To be a naught
In other's thought,
It rends the soul.
To be decried
When others lied,
Could be the role.
To be dismissed
And not be missed,
Is that the goal?
Then alone I'll strive
And be alive,
Thus remain whole.
From the Collection "The Realm of Why" by David P Cresap
An Apology
A common phrase,
I apologize.
It requests forgiveness
Not always given,
As pride sometimes
Restrains the heart.
"For I am right."
It tells itself.
But why,
Could it be
Something quite wrong,
Or only a misunderstanding?
Perhaps the lack of tact,
Or just perception.
The reasons might
Remain unknown
For all who be
Concerned.
Yet the request remains,
I apologize.
From the Collection "The Realm of Why" David P Cresap
Being Shy
It hurts to be shy,
To bow your head
And look away.
I don't know why.
It hurts to think.
I'm alone
And sad.
I don't know why.
I hurts, I know,
I feel ashamed.
I think
That's why.
From the Collection "The Realm of Why" by David P Cresap
Comfort
My Heart needs the
Freedom, of
Love.
My Mind wants the
Boundaries, of
Love.
How is it the
Two, can
Be so
Comforting?
From the Collection "The Realm of Why" by David P Cresap
Farewell / Bitterness
Fond farewells
And sweet partings
Are so often turned
For lack of words.
Ah well, when spent,
The words turn short
And true meanings
Are hidden in the sarcasm,
Which in turn hides
The feelings unexpressed
For fear of
Losing face,
And so,
Bitterness.
From the Collection "The Realm of Why" by David P Cresap
Friendship
As a world begins
Seemingly without
Direction or meaning,
It grows, develops
And expands.
It endures through
All trials of sorrow
And hardship
To find happiness.
For through this act,
It lives.
It discovers direction,
And sees meaning,
As there is purpose
For being,
And so it is
With friendship.
From the Collection "The Realm of Why" by David P Cresap
Gratitude
I can only express
What I feel.
I can only share
As much as will
Be received.
I can only give
That which is mine,
And grateful am I,
For I have a reason.
From the Collection "The Realm of Why" by David P Cresap
Head Turner
It's the neck that turns the head.
As from the top, the body's led.
From the head the seeds are sown,
But no progress, is made alone.
The head and neck do work together,
Like birds can't fly without a feather.
To succeed, they need each other
As Father works along with Mother.
The plan has come from up above
To show as work, a gift of Love
And Honor, each in shown support
In work, as done in kindest sort.
In the neck the sound is made,
The head is where the words are played.
The head is moved to let it bow,
And tilted back for thoughts, somehow.
The eyes see movement, the ears hear sound,
Neck points the head to where it's found.
The nose it sits right in the middle,
For the neck, it is a riddle.
Through the head, comes in life's source.
Through the neck it flows its course.
Up and down it goes all day
Life' forces move along their way.
Each depends, but not in part.
It can't be done if "a la carte".
And thus the meaning can be said,
"It is the neck that turns the head".
From the Collection "The Realm of Why" by David P Cresap
Life Alone
If I am to live
A life of value,
And lead others to
Success and happiness
By my example, and
If I am to be successful
In my endeavors
As a guide in
Sharing the truth
And meaning of life,
Then why is it that
I must do it
Alone.
From the Collection "The Realm of Why" by David P Cresap
My Beginning
As from where I come,
And to where I go,
Keeps in my mind a thought
Still ringing.
From here to there
Or there to here,
It's like a pendulum
Slowly swinging.
I see nothing when I look.
I hear nothing when I listen,
But still within
I have this feeling,
That it is there,
But not revealing,
The beautifully majestic place
It be,
Which remains a question still
To me.
From the Collection "The Realm of Why" by David P Cresap
My Life
My life, is
A wander of
Experiences
Which it cannot
Grasp for fear
Or misfortune.
It does not seem
To progress
Or fulfill
The direction
It desires.
It is sorrow
Masked with
Happiness.
It is concern
Masked with
Frivolity.
A fruitless depression,
All for the want
Of meaning,
My life.
From the Collection "The Realm of Why" by David P Cresap
Peaceful Truth
"With Truth Comes Peace"
Would that be true?
Not quite for me,
I'm glad for you.
"With Truth Comes Peace"
I often hear,
Yet in my life
It's not so clear.
"With Truth Comes Peace"
Is fertile soil.
So often it
Brings me turmoil.
"With Truth Comes Peace"
For every kind,
It has to be
Within your mind.
"With Truth Comes Peace"
Truth you perceive.
It may not be,
But you believe.
"With Truth Comes Peace"
Yes, it can bring,
But it takes time
For truth to ring.
"With Truth Comes Peace"
For great and small,
But, it must be Truth
And Truth for all.
From the Collection "The Realm of Why" by David P Cresap
Questions?
Do you wonder or question why,
What made the Earth or made the sky,
Or how it is, I came to be,
Or other people that I see?
Have you thought, "Where will I go?
When life is through?" I just don't know.
These questions bounced around my head.
What's going to happen when I'm dead?
Is this the end? There is no more?
What is beyond, for me in store?
For me the answers all have come,
And eased my mind so straight and plumb,
That I don't worry or question why,
My inner me did satisfy.
Now I know that if I wonder,
The answer comes as loud as thunder,
Or maybe just a quiet thought
To teach me that, what God has wrought.
My knowledge grows from many sources.
It fills my being. Like blood it courses,
And touches every "being" part
From mind and soul, it fills my heart.
So it can do the same for you,
If you are willing to listen to,
A sound, a thought that starts you off
Then leads you to a bounty trough,
Where you'll be filled and even sated
With thoughts and knowledge highly rated.
Just know this bounty's from on High,
To answer all your questions why,
And give you peace for you to know,
As all along in life you go.
There will be more as need arises,
Not just for you He empathizes.
You must share this help with all,
Be they great or be they small,
So they will know the answer's there,
If they desire or even care.
In matters that concern their life,
So they can march with drum and fife.
This knowledge for us, is a gift
To give us strength and give us lift.
It is a gift to very few,
But now this gift was meant for you.
From the Collection "The Realm of Why" by David P Cresap
Say What?
As all along in life you go,
So many things in life will flow
That come to front for you to see
And make you think that these will be
The only things of truth in life,
Yet, something new will cause you strife.
And so in life you'll go renewed,
But at this point your mind is glued,
Not thinking that there's more in store.
For you to learn and ever more.
So, clear your mind, as well your heart,
Cause there is more, this just the start.
So on and on more facts will come.
A few you'll keep, and reject some,
And yet there's more to blow your mind.
The more there is, then you will find,
This world has so much new to show.
You have no clue, what you don't know.
From the Collection of "The Realm of Why" By David P Cresap
The Price
It's hard to be
An entity of
Almost no account,
To have to wait
For something vague,
And feel completely lost.
The pain is great.
The price is high.
So often I question why,
The value being such
That I might lose,
But if I win,
The price I pay is right.
From the Collection "The Realm of Why" by David P Cresap
The Realm of Why
Have you ever wondered,
How beauty does begin,
Or how it makes the small
And plain so pleasing to behold?
T'is true, we seldom
Have the time to ponder
An idea more than
Superficially, and
Consequently;
Life can be so bland,
So dull and without change.
Yet, we continue to live,
Seldom thinking how
To live a life
More interesting and
Full of flavor.
Therefore, I offer you
A change,
A spot of color,
A splash of life,
The gift of thought
To bring to you
An occasion to
Free yourself of
Life's tedium and
Roam the realm
Of Why.
From the Collection of "The Realm of Why" By David P Cresap
The Right Brain
If I were left
But I am Not.
I'd dream of all
The things I'm taught.
NO wrongs or rights,
It makes me beam,
To use those things
Would be extreme.
And so, I'll wander
To and fro,
And bounce around
Through life, I'll go.
Experience
A bright new trail,
And let the "aught to's"
Simply pale.
I'll move myself
Through open door,
Relearning life as
Done before.
"Anew", "renew",
My inner self
And set the old me
On the shelf.
From the "Realm of Why" by David P Cresap
Time
Time, it passes on the fly
Never stopping to say why.
And time, it passes on the run
Never stopping just for fun.
Time, it's always in the race
Never letting up its pace.
So it's no use in letting down,
`Cause in the back, you will be found.
Now get on the move and plan ahead,
Or you will find that you are dead,
And failed to get just one thing done
`Cause unlike time you failed to run.
From the Collection "The Realm of Why" by David P Cresap
To Not Know
Not to know just where you stand,
Is not the life I would have planned.
To wonder if, it's up or down,
And always have to look around,
Is not the way that it should be
Especially for Eternity.
Here on earth, there should be schools
So we could know and follow rules,
Not set in stone, but know they're right,
And live their truth without a fight.
But even those who say "they're good",
Don't do the things, they know they should.
Thus my turmoil is here for now,
And I must learn to live somehow,
With vagaries in life with others
Knowing that, they are my brothers.
Understanding, though we be odd,
We came to earth by gift of God.
Therefore, I live my life unsure
From a result of him or her,
That leaves my being in a twist
From actions they could not resist.
So I must wait for time to pass.
Reset my mind. Get off my derriere.

Poetic Ratatouille
A Teenage Terror?
A Bump, a bump, I feel a bump.
What can I do with such a hump?
Scratch it? Dig it? Cut it off?
At least it does not make me cough.
The doctor's warning I should heed.
Oh, now I've gone and made it bleed.
My face will never be the same.
I should have left it when it came,
But that's not me. IT WAS A BUMP.
What ought I do with such a hump?
I could not leave it plain alone.
Now look what ugly seed I've sown.
A cover makeup, that's not right?
Just grin and bare it, that's my plight?
What can I do to fix it NOW,
And make it disappear somehow?
I must discover what to do,
I know, a magic smelly goo.
Just smear it on and go to sleep.
When morning comes, no more I'll weep.
If then I'm like a witchy hag,
I'll go and find a paper bag
With eye holes and away I'll slump,
Cause now I have an ugly bump.
From the Collection "Poetic Ratatouille" by David P Cresap
A Way Up High
(My Second Poem)
A way up high
Above my head,
I see the springs
Beneath my bed.
If you wonder
What I'm doing,
I'm looking for
The gum I was chewing.
From the Collection "Poetic Ratatouille" by David P Cresap
This was written for as a high school assignment for my neighbor friend who complained that he could not write poetry. My poem, which was very serious and esoteric about the meaning of life received a "C". This poem received an "A". In this case I considered his A as mine, since it was my poem. I just did not get credit in the book.
He always got A's, as he was considered very smart.
An Example; in another class, we had to write a 10 page paper for history. He wrote a "Title page, First page, Summary and Bibliography". The body of the paper contained spaced x's as though there were words, i.e.; xx xxx xxx xxxxx xx xxxx. It obviously was never read and there was an A on the front page.
Christmas Fun
Should Christmas be a
Time of fear
How morbidly we'd end
The year.
But Christmas is a time
Of fun
With joy and love for
Everyone,
And we should share with
Each and all,
So graciously both great
And small.
From the Collection "Poetic Ratatouille" by David P Cresap
Christmas Time
Christmas time at last is
Here,
With all its joys and Christmas
Cheer.
The year has flown so swiftly
By,
That young folks shout and old folks
Sigh.
The season brings us all
Together,
With hopes and dreams that last
Forever.
Each parent and child in every
Prayer,
Are brought together no matter
Where.
Therefore, no one lingers
Far.
For in each heart He lights a
Star.
From the Collection "Poetic Ratatouille" by David P Cresap
Cookie Machine with Dad
A bowl for the flour by the cup in the throng,
Now with sugar and butter don't mix them too long.
At last to the bowl add our bounteous chips,
This brings us the treasure to pass through our lips.
Drop 24 cookies on each buttered sheet
With timing important you must move your feet.
Hands moving so quickly the teaspoons are measured
In each little drop a morsel is treasured.
If no chip is there a reject is made
And cookie police must surely be paid.
Four pans you must rotate as the oven is timed,
By a sip of his coffee, this baking is primed.
The technique remembered and measured by heart.
The sequence is followed to the end from the start.
They're laid on the table, their hot bottoms up
To cool until ready, to dip in your cup.
A surprise once did happen when memory failed.
A batch to be doubled was memory veiled.
So, doubled again, oh the cookies we churned,
On every flat surface, lay treasure unburned.
Oh, what a sight to see cookies galore,
We ate and we ate, and in three days no more.
480 were made and I did eat my share,
But not 180 as claimed by mon pere. (maybe 100)
`Twas usually Sunday when timing was right
A time honored treasure you worked with your might
This time spent in joy. It never was sad.
Fond memories made, making cookies with Dad.
From the Collection "The Realm of Why" by David P Cresap
Gaming
(The Hunger Game)
Hunger, Game
Is not the same.
Should I win?
I'll gain the fame.
Fight to be free.
Is that the deal?
Show my strength
With mighty zeal.
Rebel for all
To my last breath,
Prove to all,
But not to death.
Written for a student as an example of a poem
detailing the topic of the book they read. titled,
"The Hunger Game".
From the Collection "Poetic Ratatouille" by David P Cresap
Hooray for Little Sis
Hooray for trees
And scabs on knees
And indoor sports
And fun cohorts.
Hooray for toys
And hunky boys
And radios
And nylon hose.
Hooray for stars
And ice cream bars
And schools books
And funny looks.
Hooray for misses
And quick kisses
And fashion craze
And college days.
Hooray for Mother
And Dad and Brother
And little Sisters
And that's all.
